Norland is a neighborhood located in northern Miami-Dade County. The population was 22,995 at the 2000 census but in 2003 the town was incorporated into the city of Miami Gardens. The city of Miami Gardens is conveniently located in the north-central corner of Miami-Dade right on the edge of the Broward County line.

The city was incorporated on May 13, 2003, as the 33rd city in Miami-Dade County. At a population of 105,457, it is the third largest city in Miami-Dade County. Norland is located in North-Central region of the county, mid-way between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and is easily accessed by I-95, the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) and the Florida Turnpike. Norland is one of Miami-Dade's most ethnically diverse neighborhoods. It is a solid, working class community with distinctive diversity.

The main business district is along NW 183rd St and 27th Avenue, the 183rd St. Flea Market sits, is a must-stop on weekends. Along 183rd St, shoppers can find several small restaurants, clothing and travel shops that cater to Caribbean and Latin markets, or they can buy fruit, seafood and even furniture from vendors who set up shop along the roadside.

Calder Race Course is also located close by and Miami and Fort Lauderdale Airports are only 30 minutes away. It has vibrant commercial corridors along the Palmetto Expressway (serving as the central shopping district for the furniture trade) and along U.S. 441 (serving the automobile trade). The city has rail access through the Florida East Coast Railway and the South Florida Tri-Rail System. Norland enjoys an active recreation department. Residents benefit from many community programs or enjoy activities and events held by the city throughout the year. There is a bustling community center and fantastic park grounds that include a large tot-lot and a playground area suited for children of elementary school age. The city parks boast baseball, softball and soccer fields, and organized children's sports programs.
