Naranja Real Estate

Naranja is located in southern Miami-Dade County. Once home too many orange groves located in this area, the community name comes from the Spanish word for orange, "naranja". Naranja was also a stop for the Florida East Coast Railroad that once ran through this area. This rural area is just a short drive to the largest subtropical preserve in North America, the Everglades. The population is 4,034 and the median household income is $18,825.

The area south of Miami was opened to homesteaders in 1898. A path known as the Homesteader's Trail was the only route in and out until railroad and oil magnate Henry Flagler extended his railway south to the area. Naranja's major source of revenue at that time was agriculture, with the harvest of winter vegetables and tropical fruits being shipped all across the country. Due to its strategic location, Naranja and the surrounding areas prospered with the Florida real estate boom in the early 1920s.

The community is going through revitalization and has focused on preserving and renovating buildings and establishing new businesses. The antique shops along nearby Krome Avenue form a charming district, one that is part of a designated Main Street Community of the Florida Bureau of Historic Preservation.

Naranja is an ethnically and economically diverse historical area that enjoys close proximity to many local attractions. Close to the finest nightlife restaurants and boutiques. The Miami International Airport is just 30 minutes away. Naranja offers a host of close recreational activities including: Metrozoo, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Parrot Jungle and Gardens, the Miami Museum of science and Planetarium and the brand New Miami Children's Museum. Enjoy the sprawling expanse of the Everglades to the west, the pristine Biscayne National Park to the east, the glitz and glamour of Miami to the north and the Florida Keys to the south.
