Miramar Real Estate

Situated in southwestern Broward County, Miramar is 14 miles in length from east to west and 2.5 miles in width. It is the second largest city in Broward County. Miramar boasts 22 neighborhood parks and 5 community parks in the city where athletic activities are available for sports enthusiasts. Beginning at the time of its founding, Miramar has been and continues to be a family-oriented community. The city's professional recreational staff plans year-round activities with something for everyone, from "tiny tots" to senior citizens.

Although Miramar was founded by one person, A.L. Mailman, its basis for development was not transportation oriented, but rather to serve as a "bedroom" community for Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Mailman bought the original property he was to develop from H.D. Perry, Sr. in 1953. He built 56 homes on the property. These were inexpensive homes of concrete and flat roofs. These homes sold quickly because of the low cost of both the homes and the land, and the City of Miramar came into being.

Redevelopment is currently concentrated in the eastern quarter of the city, which has been largely built out since the mid-60's. There are approximately 12,160 acres of vacant land in the western section of Miramar, which makes up approximately two-thirds of the city's total land area. The availability of large tracts of land, with access to major transportation networks - 1-75, the Sawgrass Expressway, the Florida Turnpike and 1-95 - and nearby labor markets, offers and excellent opportunity for residential, office park, industrial, and commercial development. The major airports and seaports, colleges, shopping and cultural centers, and beaches are all located within a short driving distance of Miramar.

Current city projects include the New Town Center project is underway. The city hall portion of the new town center has been completed. Other components of the town center, such as the retail area and residential portions are currently in process. The current administration is dedicated to preserving the character of Miramar by enhancing the quality of life in promoting and attracting development that will enrich this community without detracting from its culture and dedication to good family living.

The city parks boast baseball, softball and soccer fields, and organized children's sports programs. Centrally located Miramar offers proximity to many attractions and easy access to both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
