When the first houses were developed in Lauderhill, very few people wanted to live in the "Dairy Farm country." In the early years, there were actually far more cows than people within the borders of the City. Until only recently, traces of the McArthur Dairy Farm were still evident. The area referred to as Inverrary, was designed as a planned urban development. This innovative housing plan was designed to arrange the land and housing developments before the building began. Each section was carefully designed for a specific purpose. Inverrary later became the home of the Inverrary Country Club and site of the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Golf Classic. In the late 70s, the Northwest section of the city was developed as a single-family home community. This region was considered to be so far west people would say they were living "In the Everglades!"

Lauderhill makes good sense for business purposes. The city is located in Central Broward County, less than one mile west of the City of Fort Lauderdale. Just a short ride from air transport facilities located at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, as well as, the shipping facilities of Port Everglades, the deepest seaport south of Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to Federal post offices located nearby, a substantial UPS shipping and distribution facility is also located in Lauderhill. If your business requires easy access to the major Florida highways, the Florida Turnpike, I-75, I-95 and I-595 and the Sawgrass Expressway all are within close proximity.

Lauderhill provides an abundance of social, recreational and education activities citywide. The city has four public schools, many churches and synagogues and two libraries.
