Coral Springs Real Estate

Southwest of the city, discover the rural side of Miami-Dade County in the Coral Springs, Florida is located in Broward County, approximately 20 miles northwest of Ft. Lauderdale and 10 miles southwest of Boca Raton. The population is around 130,000 and the Median Household income is $65,062. Coral Springs was ranked 27th in Money Magazine's 2006 list of 100 Best Places to Live, the highest-ranked Florida city.

Coral Springs began as one big bean field and was incorporated in 1963. It was developed first as a retirement community but young families began to buy houses. The city's name was originally going to be Pompano Springs, to link the unknown community to the well-known town of Pompano Beach, but in the end was named after Coral Ridge Properties.

Some of the interesting features of the city include City hall which was designed as a colonial structure for the Coral Ridge Properties Administration Building. The builder followed Thomas Jefferson's plan for the University of Virginia and pre-Civil war bricks from Atlanta were used for authenticity. The city boasts "The Museum of Coral Springs History", a designated Florida Heritage Site and The Coral Springs Covered Bridge which is the only covered bridge in the public right-of-way in the State of Florida. The City also has the Coral Springs Museum of Art and the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

The city is well known for its elaborate water sports complex and ice skating arena that draw athletes from around the country. Parks, shops, malls and other amenities make family living comfortable. The city is well planned. Parks were built near residences, and gasoline stations and shops are along major roadways. Traffic flows fairly easily, even though Coral Springs is one of the county's most populous cities. Signage rules are very strictest; McDonalds Golden Arches or other signs of this type are restricted in the city.

There is always something to do in Coral Springs. There are several public and private golf courses including Heron Bay, Continental Golf Club at Coral Springs, Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace just to name a few. The City run recreation department offers many programs, activities, and events for residents. There is a bustling recreation center with programs for both young and old, and a multitude of parks for outdoor recreation.
