Coconut Creek Real Estate

Southwest of the city, discover the rural side of Miami-Dade County in Coconut Creek took its name from the coconut trees that were planted in the area by early developers. It is known as the "Butterfly Capital of the World" because of South Florida's sub-tropical climate, the City's close proximity to the Everglades and coastline, as well as, the city's well-maintained woodlands, wetlands, fields and glades help make Coconut Creek an ideal home for an astonishing variety of butterflies including rare species not found anywhere else in the world.

Coconut Creek is also home to the largest butterfly aviary, Butterfly World; with over 80 species and 5,000 individual butterflies. The City is 12 square miles with approximately 50,000 residents and 1,400 businesses. Housing is primarily single-family homes, condominiums, and townhouses within professionally landscaped communities.

Picturesque Coconut Creek is located in north Broward County. It is a well-planned community with a unique environmental consciousness boasting an abundance of trees, waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly gardens throughout its neighborhoods. This is due to a progressive planning approach implemented by the city to create a unique life-style for residents and businesses. Coconut Creek is the first in the State of Florida and eleventh in the country to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat. Coconut Creek also received a national honor with a grant from the Kodak American Greenways Awards Program for the creation of interpretative signs for City greenways and parks.

Coconut Creek offers a multitude of recreational and cultural programs for both adults and children at its 20 parks. The facilities include gymnasiums, tennis, basketball, and raquetball courts, soccer, baseball, and softball fields, sports facilities, and recreation centers, picnic shelters, boatramps, and playgrounds.

The Coconut Creeks city commission has recently adopted the "Main Street Design Standards document", which establishes a plan for development of a downtown area. The "Main Street" concept is planned for the heart of Coconut Creek that includes a town center for residential, retail and commercial use. The Main Street will be a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use community, organized around substantial, centralized and contiguous recreational open space.
