Bay Harbor Islands, located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, is a growing and vibrant community of fine homes, luxury condominiums, and apartments. The Town is home to an elementary school, retail shops, restaurants, professional offices and many other businesses. Its beginnings were much like the rest of Miami Beach. In 1945 an investor acquired two undeveloped mangrove swamp islands, located between the beach barrier island and mainland North Miami. With his own funds and with down payments from the sale of lots, he filled in the islands and watched as Bay Harbor began to spring up. The 103-acre West Island remains open only to single-family unit development. The 150 acres of the East Island contain multiple-family dwellings and also a small business district to provide Bay Harbor residents with a complete selection of goods and services. Broad Causeway joins the islands with the mainland of northern Dade County.

Located within the major metropolitan area of Miami, residents of Bay Harbor Islands can avail themselves of almost unlimited choices of recreation and entertainment. Within the town itself, residents can also enjoy relaxing green space in two parks and if they have small children, a well-equipped Tot Lot playground is available. Older children can take advantage of an after-school recreation program which is held at the local elementary school and is partially funded by the Town.

Three tennis courts are available for leisure play, private lessons, and summer tennis camps for children. The Town also provides, at no cost for its residents, evening social events twice a year with entertainment and refreshments. A Halloween Party is staged every year by the Town - organized and run by the Town's Police Department, it grows larger each year.
